Kevin holds an American Red Cross certificate in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, completed on June 15, 2022. The course was conducted by Care 1ST Training Group LLC and involved 6 contact hours of hands-on training. This certification means Kevin knows how to respond to medical emergencies involving adults and children, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automated external defibrillator.
The Red Cross training covers assessment of a person in distress, rescue breathing, chest compressions, and operation of an AED. This practical knowledge matters on beach fishing trips where conditions can be unpredictable and medical help is not always immediately available.
When you book a shark and stingray fishing adventure with Kevin, you're getting someone trained to handle medical situations quickly and effectively. Whether you're fishing an 8-hour evening session in Lewes, Delaware or an all-night trip from Cape May, New Jersey, Kevin's certification means he can recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies, breathing problems, and injuries before emergency services arrive.
Beach fishing at night involves standing for extended periods, handling large and powerful fish, and working in conditions that can shift quickly. Having a guide with First Aid and CPR training reduces the time between an emergency and the first response.
Catterman Adventures offers multiple options for targeting sharks and stingrays along the Delaware and New Jersey coasts. The 4-hour trips run from 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM in Lewes, Delaware, giving you an evening of fishing in the peak bite window. If you want more action, the 6-hour evening trips start at 6:00 PM and run until midnight, and 8-hour sessions start at 6:00 PM and go until 2:00 AM, so you experience a full sunset and extended night fishing.
All fishing from shore means no boat experience required. Kevin supplies all rods, bait, and tackle. The species you might encounter include Sandbar, Sand Tiger, Dusky, Spinner, and Blacktip sharks, plus Bull and Atlantic Sharpnose sharks, Smoothhound dogfish, skates, and stingrays. Some species are federally protected and must be caught and released quickly, and Kevin and his first mates handle all fish directly to ensure proper care during release.
Wear long-sleeve shirts, beach pants, and beach shoes, and bring bug repellent. Kevin provides ice-cold water, mosquito-proof seating, comfortable beach chairs, and high-quality images of your catch. Video add-ons are available if you ask.
Active anglers 16 and older must have a personal fishing license or registry to participate. In Delaware, you'll need a Tidal Fishing License (typically $10-20). In New Jersey, a Saltwater registry is free. Kevin can advise on which you need based on where your trip takes place. Beyond the license requirement, you're set if you have your clothing and bug spray covered. Rods, bait, water, and seating are all part of the experience.
